Haiti, often referred to as the “Pearl of the Caribbean,” is a vibrant and culturally rich country that has recently become a popular tourist destination. Despite some concerns regarding safety in Haiti, there are still many places in the country that are considered safe for tourists. Here are some of the safest places to visit in Haiti:

Labadee:

Labadee is a private beach resort located on the northern coast of Haiti. It is owned by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and is only accessible to cruise ship passengers. The resort is well-secured and has a team of trained security personnel who monitor the area to ensure the safety of tourists. Jacmel:

Jacmel is a charming town on the southern coast of Haiti. It is known for its beautiful beaches, art galleries, and colorful architecture. Jacmel is considered to be one of the safest places to visit in Haiti, and tourists can enjoy walking around the town without worrying about their safety.

Citadelle Laferrière:

One of the must-see attractions in Haiti is the Citadelle Laferrière, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the northern part of the country. This historic fortress was built in the early 19th century to defend Haiti from French invasion and is considered to be one of the largest and most impressive fortresses in the Americas.

Bassin Bleu:

Bassin Bleu is a natural pool located in the south-eastern part of Haiti. It is surrounded by lush vegetation and is a popular spot for swimming and hiking. The area is considered to be safe for tourists, and there are several tour operators that offer guided tours of the pool and surrounding areas.

While Haiti may not be the first choice for some tourists due to concerns about safety, the country still offers many amazing destinations for those who are willing to take the risk. We suggest to fly directly to Cap-Haitien, which is located in the northern part of the country. Cap-Haitien has a small airport that receives flights from several international destinations, including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Montreal. This is a great option since you will avoid going into the Port-au-Prince, where we we have been told is the place where most of the chaos lives. By following basic safety precautions and visiting the above-mentioned places, you can enjoy all that Haiti has to offer while staying safe and secure.
